The newest addition to our group, Marera Valley Lodge is also near Karatu, closer to the village of Rhotia and very convenient to the main road with good access to Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro. This elegant lodge has stellar views over the valley.
The Lodge is located on the outskirts of Karatu town about midway between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater. We look forward to your visit when we can offer you true Tanzanian hospitality and a warm welcome. The Lodge is conveniently situated at the midpoint between Lake Manyara, its beautiful national park, and the amazing Ngorongoro. The lodge is truly stylish, enjoying stunning valley views.
With a pool to freshen you, a spa to rejuvenate you, a gift shop, and a huge outside terrace to chill out, you can’t ask for much more. Except perhaps some excellent, delicious food crafted from ingredients plucked from our organic kitchen garden.

Each cozy room at Marera Valley Lodge is provided in an individual cottage, light, modern and bright, and has a mosquito-netted king or twin beds, a dressing area, a fireplace, and a spacious bathroom with a shower. Guests will spend quality time on their veranda, sipping a drink and soaking in the beauty of the landscaped tropical gardens.

The feel is boutique and laid-back, with an easy rhythm that suits one-night overnights as well as longer stays — a place to reset, sleep well, and start early for the Crater without feeling rushed. Because it’s set on a working farm estate just outside town, there’s a gentle rural atmosphere. Marera Valley Lodge is on the edge of the town of Karatu, midway between Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater. If you are driving – or being driven – from Arusha City, the 150 kilometers journey will take around 2 ½ hours. You can take an internal flight from Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport to the Lake Manyara Airstrip, a 30 minutes flight and around 30 minutes from Lake Manyara Airstrip to Marera Valley Lodge.
Guests can check in from 13.00 hours and must check out by 10.00 hours.
A laundry service is available at extra cost. Return time depends on the weather, as items are washed by hand and hand-dried.
Guests can choose from single, double, twin, or triple rooms.
Guests are always advised to drink bottled water at Marera Valley Lodge and use the water in the taps for showers and washing. Use bottled water for cleaning your teeth, too.
