andBeyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge
Description
The Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s most extraordinary wildlife havens, is a three-million-year-old caldera teeming with life — from black rhino and elephants with towering tusks to lions and flamingos. Set against mist-swirled vistas and golden grasslands, it offers a truly awe-inspiring safari experience.
The &Beyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is currently closed for an extensive rebuild that will redefine luxury and reopen in 2027. The new lodge promises an elevated experience blending breathtaking design with the crater’s natural splendour. In the meantime, visitors are encouraged to continue exploring the crater’s dramatic landscapes and abundant wildlife — a destination unlike any other, soon to be matched by an all-new realm of beauty when the lodge reopens.
Facilities
Every camp contains its own lounge and dining areas, and these are every inch as opulent as the guest accommodation! The lounges boast plush brocade sofas and winged leather chairs around glass-topped coffee tables, occasional tables supporting such items as an old-fashioned globe and a vase of fresh red roses, a grand fireplace with antique mirror above it, immense Persian rugs, and the same design detail of wood panelling, banana-leaf roofing, and sparkling chandeliers.
Dining areas boast gold-and-cream high-backed chairs around individual tables, also with fireplaces and extravagant lighting. Tree Camp is slightly less ornate than North and South, but it retains the same first-rate service standards. Food and drink throughout all camps is amazing too, featuring enormous buffet breakfasts and lunches, and a three- or even five-course dinner! The property has a safari shop, which stocks curios as well as essential items. In-room massages are available, and keep-fit fans can make good use of &Beyond’s gym-in-a-basket, perhaps to work off all the massive meals!
